Upon arrival at the toe of the avalanche debris, which was relatively narrow, the first dog on scene quickly made an indication at 11:00 am, approximately 30 yards from the start of the search.

Today, a highly experienced local avalanche guru caused a stir on Taylor Mountain and the Coal Creek region on the west side of Teton Pass when an intentionally triggered avalanche resulted in more than he bargained for. The peak can also be a great choice during Winter months, when snowshoers can enjoy lowland snowpack and no avalanche danger on the summit route. Check the National Weather Service forecast for the southern Sawatch before going, and err on the side of safely. Search and Rescue responded but could not locate the rider before dark on April 1.

… Once avalanche mitigation concluded, 2 dog teams, 3 probe teams, 2 RECCO searchers and rescue leadership personnel arrived on site via skinning up the southeast ridge of Taylor Mountain. Update, Thursday, April 2: Tracey Carrillo has confirmed to the Teton Valley News that his son, Trace Carrillo, was the skier involved in yesterday's avalanche on Taylor Mountain.
The 28 year old skier and Jackson resident, Trace Carrillo is originally from Las Cruces, New Mexico. Teams from Teton County Search and Rescue and Wyoming Department of Transportation searched the avalanche path and debris pile on the south face of the 10,352-foot mountain.
