Would like to leave early in the morning and arrive back in Vienna in the evening as we have a hotel booked for four nights. We'll be in Munich for a week and will be taking a day trip to Salzburg.. Dominating the city of Salzburg is the Hohensalzburg Fortress. Maybe the Salzburg card (one day) would be worthwhile depending on how many places you want to see, the cost of the 24 hour being 27 euros per person. This is our first time in Austria and our base is Vienna.We going to stay threre for almost two weeks. If you only want to do the Fortress then the cost, including the funicular train is about 12 euros pp or 26 euros for a family ticket. With a well-planned itinerary, it is very possible to see Salzburg in one day!
